The magnificent Vishnu Temple, one of Gorakhpur city’s biggest tourist attractions, has its origins dating back to the Pal Dynasty of the 12th century. It stands as a silent witness to the rise and fall of various empires, while standing itself in all its grandeur. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple embraces the reverence of all Hindus. Apart from the customary temple festivals, the most important festival of the Vishnu Temple is the Dusshera festival. On the eve of this festival, the Ramleela is organized here. The temple itself is adorned magnificently, but the Ramleela procession that is organized here is by far the greatest tourist attraction of this place. In a world that is constantly changing to keep in pace with the times and to blend in with modern influences, this grand procession is the very embodiment of traditionalism.
